Organizations

Nursing Students Association EQ (Equipped) -this is a very new group that is basically an extension of our church, Life Church, on campus. We are just starting to get involved on campus and do more activities to get the name out there.

What do you like best about Truman? The camaraderie I get with my fellow nursing majors; I can know my teachers on a personal level, and they are very approachable and willing to help. What has surprised you about Truman? How hard it was. I didn't actually realize what high standards Truman holds academically, and I feel very privileged to be able to get my education at such a competitive level. What do you like most about your classes? The small student-to-teacher ratio, and that I can get to know everybody in my class. (I said this earlier, but...) We really do have a sense of companionship to go through our major together. We get close to each other. We laugh together. We cry together. We spend late nights studying hard together. We lose sleep together. But we also make some of the best memories of our lives together. What do you feel is unique about Truman? The teachers really do care about the students doing well. They do all that they can to help, and if you are struggling, they will help you out. They aren't just here for a job. They are here to see their students succeed. How would you describe life at Truman to a friend? Nursing students have no life. We study. It's busy. But if for some reason, we ever are bored, there is always some activity, lecture, presentation, sports game, or performance to go to. Or you can just hand on campus and have fun with your friends. What are your plans after graduation? I plan to stay in Kirksville, at least for a while and work as an RN for a few years while I work on classes that are required for medical school admission. Then I hope to attend KCOM to become a D.O. What do you do for fun in Kirksville? Mostly, I hang out with my friends. Whatever we are doing, we have fun together. We can go to the lake, have a BBQ, chill at Java Co, or take a walk downtown. There is usually plenty to do if you just use your imagination. But with friends, Kirksville is never boring!
